Role Overview

The Accounts Assistant works to support the overall functioning of the O’Carroll Engineering accounts department. This department supports operations within Ireland and the UK

 

Key Responsibilities

Main duties:

Statutory

  • Intrastat monthly returns
  • Motor tax compliance

 Accounts Payable

  • Supplier set up on Sage
  • Supplier Credit Application forms
  • Marking off payments on Sage
  • Printing, reconciliation and filing invoices & statements
  • Queries such as – pricing, credit notes, missing invoices
  • Ensuring correct nominal allocations on all purchases
  • PI matching invoices on Progress and transferring to Sage
  • Card payments online & over the phone
  • Creating PO’s where necessary
  • Fuel Card Ordering

 Accounts Receivable

  • Invoicing
  • Commercial invoices for the UK
  • Marking off receipts on Sage
  • Emailing customer statements when required

 Bank

  • Printing statements
  • Administration and reconciliation of credit card transactions and payments
  • Uploading payment to the bank account when required
  • Updating Supplier Bank Details when required
  • Handing cash and cheque payments

 Fixed Assets

  • Allocate fixed assets purchases to correct nominals and update fixed assets register

 General

  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports as required
  • Complete reconciliations where necessary
  • Allocate accruals and prepayments to correct nominals and update schedules
  • Complete ad-hoc tasks to support the functioning of the accounts and administration departments

     

    The Person

    Education:

    • Studying towards or ambition to achieve ATI (Accounting Technician Ireland) certification/ qualification or other accounting qualifications

     

    Technical skills/ aptitudes:

    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritise work
    • Strong numerical and analytical skills
    • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
    • Ability to work on own initiative as well as being a team-player
    • Skilled in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • Exposure to accounting software would be advantageous
    • Willingness to learn and develop new skills
    • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
