Established in 1990, Killarney Precision Engineering Limited trades as O’Carroll Engineering, Laser Tube Ireland and Signature Stairs. The company has grown from a two-employee business to employing over 130 qualified and skilled staff working in a 7,500 m2 modern manufacturing facility. The Company has achieved ISO certification, CE Marking and is continually implementing Lean manufacturing processes.

Research & Development Manager (Structural Engineering)


Responsibilities:
• Take the lead on research, development and commercialisation of new products for O’Carroll Engineering
• Active involvement in the transitioning of new products from pilot to manufacturing stages
• Involvement in the design and structural analysis of new projects for O’Carroll Engineering, Signature Stairs, sister companies and sub-contractors as required
• Research and present suitable new products and markets
• Research and development to ensure constant innovation within and development of the business and its products and services
• Partner with marketing and finance departments to develop strategic R&D objectives relevant to market conditions
• Prepare, generate and analyse data for structural analysis & detail
• Assess structural materials to ensure high standards of quality
• Act as specialist designer in accordance with the Building Control (Amended) Regulations, 2014 and certify accordingly
• Prepare all project related design and correspondence in conjunction with your colleagues • Liaise with clients and consultants, manage project and ensure the highest level of customer care and service
• Achieve R&D targets & Key Performance Indicators
• Guarantee best value in all endeavours

Requirements:
• Degree or similar qualification in Structural Engineering
• Ten years’ experience in similar research and development role
• Proficient in Finite element design programmes – Robot, Ansys etc.
• Familiarity with Euro and BS design codes
• Proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office
• Proven to be motivated and organised with excellent communication skills
• Fluency in spoken, written and technical English
• Willingness to be adaptable and grow with the role, and the organisation
• Knowledge and experience of working to CE Marking would be a distinct advantage
• Experience in working to ISO9001, EN1090 and Lean Manufacturing would be beneficial

Site Fitter


The Site Fitter is part of the Site Installation team who fit, weld install fabricated metal and glass panels components and structure. The Site Fitter will primarily work from technical drawings to fit and install structures and components.

Main Duties:
• Read and interpret technical drawings to install components
• Ensure all measurements and installations are accurate
• Fitting fabricated steel components and structures
• Stick welding of mild steel
• Travelling to site locations in Ireland and the UK
• Maintain all health and safety standards at all times

Requirements:
• Experience in the fabrication of metal components from technical drawings
• Experience in working with metals and steels
• Proven ability to read drawings
• Previous experience on site installation projects
• Team player
• Full clean driving licence
• Safe Pass
• UK CSCS Card
• Availability to travel

The Site Fitter role requires a minimum of 39 hours per week. A reasonable level of overtime may be required at morning, evening or weekend time to ensure the fulfilment of the requirements of this role. There is an amount of travelling required with this role, currently throughout Ireland and the UK.
